Rodent Control
Reported rodent sightings are investigated and property owners are instructed in the procedures involved in abating rodent problems to eliminate rodent breeding grounds. City storm and sanitary sewers are baited periodically to eliminate the presence and harborage of rodents.
Rats can be a problem in urban, suburban and rural areas. They infest old buildings and crowded unsanitary areas that exist in an urban environment. Since these rodents eat practically anything humans eat, they may get plenty of food from home gardens, fruit and nut trees, and even parts of some ornamental shrubs and flowers. Garbage disposals also attract rats into household and street sewer lines. The City of Kent, Ohio places bait in problem areas to help control rodents.
Other Nuisance Animal Removal
In cases of trapping nuisance animals not considered rodents located outside of your home, for a minimal fee, the City will make arrangements to have the animal trapped and removed by a trapping company that is contracted with the City.
Examples of such animals include:
- Groundhogs
- Raccoons
- Skunks
- Woodchucks
- Etc.
